Tanner emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive attitude throughout any cooperative activity. If you have a negative attitude it will translate to your group mates and if someone is on the verge of having a bad attitude it will put them over the edge. Being a leader means that your outlook on a project will have an effect on the rest of your team. So if you go into something thinking it won't go well then it most likely won't go well. But going into something saying that you are going to succeed and have a good time then that is most likely going to happen. Communication was also a big talking point because if you can't communicate a plan of attack for people as a leader then things are going to go poorly. Positive communication and negative communication can be a difference between a team's success and a team's failure. The problem with that is that it can be so easy to want to say some positive criticism but have it come off in a condescending negative way. There is such a fine line in that area that you have to be really careful with how you communicate with your group.
