SLI 1 - Managers and Leaders: What's the Difference? A LOT! (Leading Others)

Hosted by Connor Watson, November 17th, 2021

In this SLI, Connor Watson discussed the attributes of both good leaders and good managers. Some attributes were used in both contexts, for example, driven, competent, resourceful. But some were given to solely the leaders and some solely the managers. Leaders are inspirational, motivating, and can delegate tasks to get the job done, but managers don't need to do those things to be great. Managers at times can be controlling of their work and when they aren't there things can't get done. Managers do not need to have great people skills to be able to manage but leaders need to get people to genuinely believe and feel inspired enough to follow them. An effective leader will always be better than an effective manager.
